Most of us are familiar with the US Coast Guard boats that run off our shores. The Coast Guard also deploys its personnel and boats all over the world, shipping equipment and consumables in containers to remote locations.
When a new and complex project arose, they decided a flexible inventory management system was required. Since the CheckMate system has been used by the US military for over 20 years, they naturally turned to Dynamic Systems for help.
Their requirements not only included tracking the consumables and equipment used on the boats, but the system had to be easy to use for non-English speaking personnel. To facilitate the process, DSI added the ability to print labels and reports in Arabic.
Key features for the Coast Guard’s application were the ability to “move” items easily from one location (container) to another, to create their own locations as required, and to produce a purchase request (requisition). The solution was deployed overseas less than 4 months after installation.
