Fabrication – Job Costing

job costing software, fabricator software, manufacuturing payroll reportingIndustrial furnaces, incinerators, kilns, heating and cooling coils – these are often custom manufactured and installed by a fabrication company.  The manufacturing process includes multiple steps and hands-on labor by skilled workers.  The profitability of jobs for a fabricator often comes down to how many labor hours are spent making the product.  CheckMate JobData provides the labor information required to calculate these hours accurately.

One such fabricator implemented CheckMate JobData with AML KDT900 terminals and barcode scanners at various workstations throughout the plant.  The employee records the “start time” for their task and job number, and JobData keeps track of the hours.  When the job moves to the next workstation, JobData automatically clocks it out of the last task and into the new one.

By recording actual hours on the job, the fabricator can cost each job accurately and has good data for future quotations.
